Why I built this
I spent years helping families move.
Mostly older people, and mostly at the worst possible moment. A fall. A diagnosis. A spouse who died. The house had to be sold and nobody could find anything. The insurance policy. The deed. The name of the accountant. Passwords to accounts nobody knew existed.
One of them I still think about. A woman with late stage dementia had to move into memory care, and the house had to be sold to pay for it. Her sister was taking care of her and thought she had power of attorney. She had medical power of attorney. Not the kind that lets you sell a house.
Nobody knew that until it mattered. The documents were scattered. Half the accounts nobody could find. We were trying to move a woman who was slipping away and sell her home at the same time, and her sister spent weeks chasing paperwork instead of sitting with her.
That's the day this started.
It was never really about the house. It was that everything a person's life runs on lived in their head, and their head was the only copy.
